Attention: If you are turning in to Anchorage or Fairbanks please visit the sites below. These instructions are only for Alaska Remote Locations. Also, please be informed that this region is by appointments only, walk ins are not permitted and will be turned away.

Turning in:

Prior to turning in a POV you will need to email IALAlaska@ialpov.us with the following documents. Once documents are confirmed we will schedule an appointment to turn in your POV.

  • Pre-Shipping/Storage Instruction Form
  • Shipper Acknowledgement Form OR Storage Acknowledgement Form
  • Current Orders
  • Marines need Web Orders
  • Proof of Ownership
  • POV title or Manufacturer Certificate of Origin (MCO)
  • Current vehicle registration
  • Lien Holder or Lease Holder letter from Bank or Lessor if shipping to a foreign country
  • Spouse's Vehicle
  • Spouse owner listed on Orders - If the spouse is listed on the orders, then the vehicle registration/title in the spouse's name is acceptable to ship/store the vehicle.
  • Spouse and service member listed on Orders - if the spouse and service member are both listed on the title/registration, shipment/storage is authorized.
  • Spouse NOT listed on Orders - If the spouse who owns the vehicle is NOT listed on the orders, shipment/storage may be permitted if the individual is able to provide documentation showing that they are a dependent of the Service Member. Acceptable forms of documentation include:
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Dependent ID Card
  • Other military documentation showing proof of entitlement
  • Proof of clear recalls
  • Passport, with SOFA stamp (if applicable and available at time of turn in)
  • SM cell phone number and any other contact details (i.e. Sponsor, new unit, etc.) at ORIGIN Country / OLD assignment
  • Any additional locally required documentation (will be advised case by case prior to the turn in appointment confirmation)
  • POA if Applicable: if someone other than you (the authorized service member) is turning in your vehicle , you must provide a notarized Power of Attorney or Letter of Authorization designating someone to act on your behalf. (Note: This does not apply to spouses. See Proof Of Ownership above for more details.)
  • DOS: Department of State and Embassy Shipments: You will also need to bring your passport book and a legible copy of your vehicle title (front and back). Should you not have a copy of your vehicle title available, please contact the closest Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) for additional assistance.
