A. Documents to be sent to Daegu VPC in advance
Email us back with the scanned documentation listed below at least 5 days prior to drop off
1. Pre-shipping instruction form attached herewith (Completely filled out)
2. PCS orders & amendment (Make sure you have POV shipment authorization on your PCS orders)
3. USFK Military Vehicle Registration (Must be CURRENT valid registration. Beware of the EXPIRATION and update if it’s passed. SOFA stamped DMV registration is not acceptable.)
4. Korean Customs Import Document (Provided when you imported your vehicle to Korea. If you don’t have it, the VPC will prepare memorandum for you to sign as you turn in your POV)
5. Lien Holder Shipment Authorization Letter** (Company letterhead, dated, and signed by lien holder. Only for shipment to OCONUS)
6. De Registration of certificate. (Turn In your POV to VPC first if your POV was registered in Camp Walker or Camp Carroll registration office.)
7. Bill of Sale (If you purchased a vehicle in Korea)
8. Storage authorization letter(Only for storage)
8. A printout recall report from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) sponsored website SAFERCAR at https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/vinLookup (If there’s an unresolved recall notice, the vehicle will be shipped with the battery disconnected)
** If there are other names on ownership documentation other than the entitlement holder:
In instances where the vehicle is titled or financed/leased under the name of the entitlement holder and another party, a letter of authorization from the othe??r named party authorizing the entitlement holder to ship the vehicle is required.(Letter of authorization form is attached)
*If the spouse is the legal owner of the vehicle and not on your orders, a copy of marriage certificate is required.
B. Documents to be prepared and brought to Daegu VPC
Prepare and Bring with you the documents below when you turn in the car
1. Original copy of Korean DMV Vehicle Deregistration Certificate (Pre-shipping instruction form is required to deregister your vehicle at your local DMV)
2. A printout recall report from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) sponsored website SAFERCAR at https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/vinLookup (If there’s an unresolved recall notice, the vehicle will be shipped with the battery disconnected)
C. How to prepare your turn in
1. Make sure your POV is clean. Dry-vacuum only. The VPC will not accept a POV laden with dirt, soil, mud, water or similar matter. Empty all pockets and compartments.
2. Cancel your registration at your local DMV and Military Vehicle Registration Office prior to turn-in and obtain the De-Registration Certificate (You are required to submit Pre-Shipping Instruction Form attached herewith when you de-register your car).

3. Run your VIN through the website SAFERCAR at https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/vinLookup for open recalls and print out the result to submit to the VPC. Even if there’s an unresolved recall notice, the vehicle can still be shipped but the vehicle battery will be disconnected to allow for shipment.
4. ROOF RACKS NOT ALLOWED! Remove any racks/cargo carriers that are not permanently mounted prior to your appointment.
5. Ensure your POV contains NO MORE THAN ONE-FOURTH tank of fuel.
D. Check Point
1. Make sure that all the documents are ready and sent to Pyeongtaek VPC prior to drop off. Review the information on ‘PCSMYPOV.com’ for shipment.
2. Clean the car and empty all pockets and compartments
3. Recall report printed out from the SAFERCAR website must be provided to Daegu VPC when turn-in
4. Make sure that fuel level is 1/4 tank or less

Service members must contact DAEGU VPC upon arrival into KOREA. By Korean law, you are required to register your inbound POV and obtain a license plates at the Korean government registration authority office nearest to your next duty station. In order to receive a temporary or permanent vehicle registration and set of license plates, you must obtain a USFK driver’s license and insurance policy that is valid for driving in KOREA.
Inbound members must prepare the following official documents prior to reclaiming their POV.
- Korean Customs Import Document (will be provided on pick-up from DAEGUl VPC)
- USFK Driver’s license
- Safety Inspection Certificate (after pick-up)
- Proof of insurance
- Proof of ownership (Title or Previous registration)
- ID and PCS orders
- Power of Attorney (if applicable)
- Civilians-required to submit Letter of Employment or Contract(700-19)
Korean government law also requires you to de-register your outbound POV at the same Korean registration authority office. Members may not de-register their POV at the Korean registration authority office of their choice.
Outbound members must present an official de-registration certificate and POV shipping documents to the vehicle processing center before turning in their POV at Daegu VPC. POV that has not been properly de-registered cannot be processed for exportation.
