For your own comfort, we would like you to have your vehicle as soon as possible. We kindly ask, that you contact us as soon as you arrive at your new duty location and update your contact details. Please check your email frequently for vehicle availability for pick-up. Prior to vehicle pick up it is required to obtain a release letter from the Naval Base Security Section, authorizing to drive a POV for up to 45 days on US Plates. During this time the security section will order new Spanish registration and plates for the POV.
Required Documents to ship your POV:
- IAL PRE-SHIPPING FORM DULY FILLED-IN.
- POV Registration (US Title and/or Spanish vehicle license/registration, both sides)
- Copy of PCS orders (containing POV shipment info/authorization) in case of POV storage please be sure it’s mentioned on your PCS Orders / Storage Authorization Form from Personal Property Office is required.
(To reduce waiting time & speed-up the process we please you send ASAP these forms/information, otherwise bring with you)
To bring with you at drop-off also:
- Drive Out Letter from Security office
- 1797 Form from the DPS Web Application (You can use our Service Member’s Workstation at VPC to get this Form).
Please pay special attention on POV cleaning as, according USDA regulations to ship to USA, it must be clean as ‘’brand new’’, outside and specially inside (carpets, door rubbers, seat rails, each corner/box, engine/hood reverse, etc.). Detail cleaning is highly recommended.
If you don’t have the ‘’IAL PRE-SHIPPING FORM’’ or you need any information please contact us at rota.vpc@ialpov.us or +34 956 852034
To make sure that your vehicle complies with specific Country Specifications, if any, please have the TMO/PPO check the Personal Property Consignment Instructions Guide (PPCIG) for very important Host Nation Vehicle Importation Restrictions, as well as safety registration and insurance requirements.
Please note that your POV need a valid US-registration & origin plate/s to be operated on Spanish roads for the first time until the Spanish license plates are ready and as proof that the POV is "road worthy". With an expired US-registration or missing origin plate/s a "technical inspection" has to be made and this technical inspection including all process around will take between 20 and 28 days before pick-up POV from the VPC.
POV must be registered in Spain into 6 months after Service Member check-in at Spain otherwise it would have to be returned to origin by account of owner.
